Strange Hat Society
Hats protect heads from the sun, cold and rain… and then some of them just look ridiculous and stupid.
One Piano You Cannot Move
Check out this amazing piano-shaped building in Huainan, Anhui providence, China.
The building will serve as the local Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, not, surprisingly, as the world’s largest replica of the foot piano from Big.
And, like me, if you were wondering how to get inside the piano building, just go through the giant glass-walled violin on the other side.
Lego My Yamato
After six years and four months, Jun Brick, a serious Japanese Lego craftsman, finally completed building the WWII battleship Yamato out of 200,000 Lego parts. Weighing in at 330 pounds and expanding more than 21 feet in length and 3 feet in width, this ship is large enough to take on some serious Lego competition. Perhaps the USS Harry S. Truman Lego aircraft carrier built by Malle Hawking last year?
Recycled Cars
New car sales may be down, but that doesn’t mean that people are getting rid of their old vehicles once they stop working, rust out or go out of style. Here are some creative modes of transportation…
I don’t think this is what they meant when the kids requested a double-decker bus. (more…)
Tiny Bits of Art
Mosaics have the ability to turn something small and meaningless, like a stamp, nail, toothpick or cork, into a beautiful work of art. And in many cases, they give an opportunity to recycle materials that would have otherwise been wasted. Here are some of the largest ones created around the world.
This stamp mosaic measures 1,077.47 square feet and contains 115,133 individual stamps. It was created by over 300 parents, students and teachers at the Leipzig International School in Leipzig, Germany between August 2007 and June 2008. The finished product, which depicts the Leipzig skyline with the word Leipzig written across it, took over a year and a half to complete. (more…)
A Simple Solution
When money is scarce, a little creativity can help solve your problems.
Trees in Stitches
I know that trees always look cold on a blustery day, especially when they don’t have any leaves, this is a bit extreme…
I bet the tree pretended to love its new garment, and then tossed it into the rag pile when the gift giver wasn’t looking.
Many dining room tables are made from wood, but that doesn’t mean you should go around dressing trees like it’s time for Sunday dinner. That’s like asking someone to try on their funeral attire while they’re still thirty and healthy.
Engineering Gone Awry
Nothing is worse then when things don’t work. And nothing is funnier then when things don’t work for someone else. Like for these architects perhaps? Whoever designed some of these must be beating their head against a wall somewhere. (more…)
Mannequins on the Move
My worst fears have been realized. These pictures show a “living” group of mannequins that go through an elaborate (and creepy) transformation throughout the course of a week. They are able to “pass” through the glass, climb to the roof, and melt into the floor.
