Face-Off

I don’t know if you guys have heard about this yet, but apparently, there’s some kind of flu going around. And what is a pandemic without a little pandemonium? People everywhere are taking precautions and wearing surgical masks in public to avoid catching the virus, and frankly, it looks a bit silly.

I like these folks though; if you’re going to wear a surgical mask, you might as well have some fun with it. After all, it is a mask.

Too Cool for Coins

Stamps and coins are one thing. Collecting them can even make for a great past-time hobby. But for every American quarters collector, there’s a hobbyist collecting enough stuff to fill an entire room or even a museum.

Chairdevils

Like to clown around at your office? There might be a competition out there just for you. The second annual office chair racing championships were held in Bad Koening, Germany recently. Contestants rode their modified office chairs down a steep ramp and through a 200 meter-long course. As these pictures indicate, not everyone made it to the finish line.

Inspired by a documentary about the satellite photos on Google Earth, British teenager Rory McInnes decided to make his parents’ million-pound mansion stand out. And it sure did. He painted a 60-foot phallus on top of his parents’ newly finished flat roof. However, it was not discovered for a whole year until a helicopter pilot reported that he could see the image while flying by the house in Berkshire, England.

As Still As Furniture

David Blázquez adds a new twist to the art of interior design. His photography exhibit called “human furniture” is on display at El Fotomata in Sevilla, Spain. Both question the purpose and portrayal of human interaction. How often do you feel like you’re being watched or molded into something that you don’t like? (more…)

Extreme Fishing

When I think of fishing, I think of a cold beer, a chair to lounge in and some quality conversation. It’s probably the only moment in my life where I can sit and wait, and not be tapping my foot the whole time. And if nothing happens I’m still okay. These men in South Asia, however, have taken fishing to the next level … times 50. Some say this is the original way of fishing. Others say it’s catching fish with your hands. Either way, this way is impressive — but it would definitely give me an anxiety attack. What do you think? (more…)
